ICRM
The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) is an international certifying organization made up of and for professional records and information managers. The ICRM was incorporated in 1975 to create a standard designation (the CRM) by which persons involved in records and information management could be measured, accredited, and recognized in accordance with criteria of experience and knowledge established by their peers. There is an additional recognition, the CRA or Certified Records Analyst. CRA recipients have passed 3 of the 5 of the CRM exams, Parts 2, 3 and 4. Recognition as a CRM or a CRA has proved to be an advantage in the job market for many who have taken the exams, passed and received the CRM or CRA designation. LOCAL CRM EXAM ASSISTANCE
The six part CRM examination is currently administered in February, May, August and November each year. The tests are administered by Pearson Vue, an independent testing service and most except for Part 6 are available Monday through Friday during those months. Metropolitan Maryland Chapter counts a number of CRMs and CRAs among its members, along with members who are CRM candidates that plan to take parts of the exam the near future. Our ARMA chapter and the ARMA chapter of Northern Virginia (ARMA NOVA) will jointly present a one-day Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) Exam Preparation Workshop on May 17th, 2019 in Rosslyn, VA in a building close to the Metro. The workshop will use official ICRM training materials covering all five of the multiple choice exams, section(s) for Part 6, the essay exam, and a special section on the Federal exam. This workshop is for you if want either to study for the ICRM exams or to get a good overview of the many topics involved in 21st century records and information management.
